Agencies
Led by Dr. G. Kemble Bennett, P.E., TEES is the agent for engineering research for The Texas A&M Engineering Program, a partnership of state agencies and universities committed to technology-related education, engineering research, and outreach. The Texas A&M Engineering Program consists of the Dwight Look College of Engineering, one of the largest engineering colleges in the U.S., and 3 state agencies: TEES, TTI, TEEX and the three Texas state agencies.

With over $100M in funded research, TEES is headquartered in College Station at Texas A&M University, but its scope includes all of Texas. TEES has divisions and affiliations at 14 Texas universities (and one in New Mexico) and 35 multidisciplinary research centers. With a unique ability to establish collaborative research programs, TEES combines the strengths of its partners to conduct and apply the highest quality research.

  • As part of the Texas A&M Engineering Program, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is recognized as one of the world's premier emergency services training organizations. Through an extension program of training, technical assistance and emergency response, TEEX accomplishes its mission of the protection of our country's citizens. TEEX offers more than 700 different certifications and courses, training more than 175,000 emergency responders from throughout Texas, all 50 states, all territories, and more than 40 countries each year.

TEEX operates world-class training facilities such as the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC), the Emergency Operations Training Center (EOTC), Disaster City®, the Brayton Fire Training Field, and the Texas A&M Riverside Campus. TEEX is also home of Texas Task Force One (TX TF-1), one of the 28 FEMA national urban search and rescue teams.

Following the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, TEEX led a national effort to better prepare the nation's emergency responders and local officials to effectively respond to acts of terrorism and natural disasters. TEEX collaborated to form the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC), with the goal of providing the nation with the capabilities and capacities to attain a critical state of readiness in preparation for threats of terrorism and other catastrophic incidents.

  • The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) has operated as a state agency for more than 50 years and is a member of Texas A&M Engineering Programs. As the nation's leading transportation research institute, TTI addresses the major issues facing transportation including border crossing issues at Ports of Entry and anti-terrorist protection barriers for the U.S. State Department. TTI's research, education, and technology transfer focus on many areas, such as safety, security, mobility, funding, asset management, environment, and workforce development. Created in 1950 in response to the needs of the Texas Highway Department, TTI has since broadened its focus to address all modes of transportation-highway, air, water, rail and pipeline.
