    • Procedures at Border Crossing Points of Entry
    • Surveillance and tracking Technologies
    The Texas A&M University System has also been selected by the Department of Homeland Security to provide key leadership in designing, developing and leading an educational agenda to support the DHS mission.

    Principle Investigator at Texas A&M University System:

  • The multidisciplinary project is called SHIELD (Smuggled HEU Interdiction through Enhanced anaLysis and Detectors), according to the project director David Boyle of the Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute (NSSPI) at Texas A&M. The SHIELD project is divided into four teams with Nuclear engineer William Charlton heads detector technology, and Industrial engineer Gary Gaukler directs the systems team.
