The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Texas A&M University is actively engaged in a Homeland Security mission by researching Border Crossing Design and Simulations, Transportation & Port Security Issues, Threat & Vulnerability Assessment, Testing & Evaluation , Critical Infrastructure Protection, Emergency Preparedness & Response, Modeling & Simulation; Sensor Integration; Communications & Interoperability; 3D Visualization/Virtual Environments; Human Computer Interaction; Data Mining and Information Extraction; Supply Chain Vulnerabilities; Logistics of Large-scale Evacuations; Command & Control/Situational Awareness ; Pre-positioning, Staging, and Optimal Allocation of Resources in Responding to an Emergency.
In addition to faculty activity in the previous areas, the System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) program partners with faculty from this department. A System of Systems approach is integrated into multiple areas of homeland security research.
